Minecraft for Windows (Microsoft Store) or Xbox console — Bedrock Edition

Before you start — tell the server admin your Xbox gamertag

The server has a whitelist. You can't connect until the admin adds you. Your Xbox gamertag is the name on your Microsoft/Xbox account — the one you use to sign in to Minecraft.

You can check it by opening the Xbox app on Windows, or in Settings → Account on your Xbox console.

Xbox Console (Series X/S or One)

1

Open Minecraft

Launch Minecraft from the home screen. Sign in with your Microsoft account if prompted.

2

Go to Play → Servers

From the Minecraft menu, select Play, then navigate to the Servers tab.

3

Scroll down and select "Add Server"

Scroll past the featured servers to find Add Server.

4

Enter the server details

Server Name: Goat Server

Server Address: goats.sortoflikethis.com

Port: 19132

Save and connect.

Windows PC — Minecraft for Windows

This is the version from the Microsoft Store (not minecraft.net). It uses your Xbox gamertag to sign in.

1

Open Minecraft for Windows

Launch the app and sign in with your Microsoft account.

2

Play → Servers → Add Server

Click Play, then the Servers tab, then scroll down and click Add Server.

3

Enter the server details

Server Name: Goat Server

Server Address: goats.sortoflikethis.com

Port: 19132

Click Save, then click the server to connect.

If it says "You are not whitelisted": the server admin hasn't added your Xbox gamertag yet. Let them know your gamertag and ask them to add you.
Not sure which Minecraft you have? If it asks for an Xbox/Microsoft account when you sign in, it's Bedrock Edition — use this guide. If it asks for a Mojang or Java account (and you bought it at minecraft.net), use the Java Edition guide instead.
