🎮 Nintendo Switch

Requires a one-time DNS change — takes about 3 minutes

Before you start — tell the server admin your Xbox gamertag

The server has a whitelist. You can't connect until the admin adds you. Tell them your Xbox gamertag — the name attached to the Microsoft account linked to your Switch. They'll add you before you try to connect.

Your gamertag shows up on the Switch under System Settings → Profile. It's the name next to your icon.

Why the DNS change? Nintendo Switch doesn't let you add custom servers in Minecraft. A free service called BedrockConnect intercepts the featured server screen and lets you type your own server address instead. The DNS change makes this work. It only affects Minecraft — everything else on your Switch works normally.

Part 1 — Change the DNS on your Switch (one time only)

1

Go to System Settings

From the Switch home screen, open System Settings (the gear icon).

2

Go to Internet → Internet Settings

Scroll down to Internet, then tap Internet Settings. Your WiFi network will appear.

3

Change Settings on your WiFi

Tap your WiFi network name, then tap Change Settings.

4

Set DNS to Manual

Scroll down to DNS Settings and change it from Automatic to Manual.

5

Enter the BedrockConnect DNS addresses

Primary DNS: 104.238.130.180

Secondary DNS: 8.8.8.8

Tap Save, then tap Connect to This Network to reconnect.

Part 2 — Connect to the Goat Server

6

Open Minecraft

From the Switch home screen, open Minecraft.

7

Go to Play → Servers

Tap Play, then the Servers tab.

8

Tap any Featured Server

Tap on any of the featured servers (Lifeboat, Mineplex, etc.) — it doesn't matter which. BedrockConnect will intercept it.

9

Enter the Goat Server address

A screen appears asking for a server address. Type:

Server: goats.sortoflikethis.com

Port: 19132

Tap Submit.

10

You're in!

The game should load and connect you to the Goat Server. If it says "You are not whitelisted," the admin hasn't added your gamertag yet.

Next time: You don't need to change DNS again or go through BedrockConnect every time. Just tap any Featured Server and enter the address — it will be remembered from last time.
To undo the DNS change later: System Settings → Internet → Internet Settings → your WiFi → Change Settings → DNS Settings → Automatic.
